Rare Lionel Set 748W w/ 763E Hudson 2226W (4) 2623 Pass

Here is one you won't see very often. This is the components of the LIONEL "O72" prewar set No. 748W from 1941-42. It includes the great Hudson semi-scale No. 763E Steam Locomotive with its No. 2226W whistle tender - plus their scarce BOXES. The set comes with (4) prewar Madison type "Manhattan" illuminated passenger cars - No. 2623. The set was to include a 2624 Observation - but that was never made by Lionel.

This set appears to be all original - and in very nice condition. I've take a lot of pictures for you to see for yourselves, and please ask any questions. The engine is in excellent plus condition. The engine did run when put on a test track. The frame looks nice and straight. Nice clear graphics on the sides, barely a scratch. The tender overall looks to be in excellent condition. I do see some minor oxidation underneath. Whistle works. The passenger cars are all very nice for their age and rarity. Typical of these cars, they are missing most steps. Some have some oxidation on the bottoms, and a few mold marks on the roof. But overall, I think you'll agree, that these make a nice set of passenger cars. The engine box includes its insert and wrap, but is missing flaps on one end. The tender box is missing an interior flap, and all flaps have been taped reinforced. Includes its interior lining.
