American Flyer Wide Gauge Hamiltonian Set w/ 4678 4340+

Here is a fantastic Set of American Flyer Wide Gauge (Standard Gauge) from the late 1920s. This is called "The Hamiltonian". From the 1929 catalog - "This was one of American Flyer's De Luxe models, similar in style and make-up to the 'President's Special'. It is a large 5 feet 3 inches long and finished in a three-tone color scheme of brilliant enamel - the predominating color being Victory Red. All windows and doors are individual brass frames with individual transparencies. Train is illuminated with 8 Mazda lamps. Gross weight 27 lbs." The train set features a model number 4678 New York Central Locomotive. 15" long. Triple action remote control reverse, an automatic ringing bell, twin reversible headlights. It pulls the No. 4340 Club car, the No. 4341 Pullman, and the No. 4342 Observation. This set has all the rare individual boxes and a scarce Set Box. Condition on this is excellent as seen in the pictures. Hard to find much wrong with the finish of the trains. I believe that the engine frame has been repainted, with possibley the cow catchers and back coupler. The passenger cars are also beautiful, with striking paint and almost new looking brass. The engine was put on a test track and it lights up and runs. However, I noticed that the gears are grinding a bit, and will need some adjustment. Some of the passenger cars are missing handrails. The individual boxes show a lot of wear, one being very nice. Some of the original wrapping paper still present. The set box is nice and square in good condition. A set for your collections. Selling with NO RESERVE. However, if there is little bidding on this beautiful set I reserve the right to pull the auction 12 hours prior to its end. So please bid early if interested. Please ask any questions, and check out all the pictures. Thanks. Buyer pays shipping. Please check out my other items currently listed, and save on shipping. NO RESERVE.
