RARE Lionel Full Scale Set 700E Hudson 714 715 716 717

Here is the granddaddy of them all - a Lionel prewar "O Gauge" full-scale 700E with a 700T tender pulling (4) scale freights - the 714 Box Car, the 715 Sunoco Tank Car, the 716 B & O Hopper, and a 717 Caboose. This is a chance to own this wonderful set as we are offering it first on eBay. The condition of this great set is mostly apparent from the photographs - so make sure you view them all - but I will detail what I know about each piece. First and foremost is the wonderful 700E Engine. I believe this is a 1937 version as the serial number is 01 04 74. Casting on this engine appears to be nice and straight. I do not see any breaks or cracks. The graphics are really strong for this engine. A do see that the back coupler pin is a replacement. When put on a test track the engine ran well. No scraping to the front pilot. The tender also looks very nice. This does not have a whistle, so it could be a tender from a kit. The coal pile is original, but it is cracked and repaired in several places. Both the engine and the tender would benefit from a good cleaning.

The freights look great but do have some condition issues to point out. Included in this auction is a Lionel No. 714 Scale Pennsylvania Die-Cast Boxcar. The body is in excellent condition. No breaks or cracks. The wheels and trucks are reproductions. The Lionel No. 715 Scale Sunoco Die-Cast Tank car. This is in very good condition, decals showing wear. No breaks or cracks. I don't see any warps to the frame. Wheels are 700E-10 wheels, trucks are painted replacements. Also included is the Lionel No. 716 Scale B & O Die-Cast Hopper car. The good news is that the body of this car is in excellent condition - as seen in the pictures. The wheels and trucks appear to be replacements. A hard car to find in any kind of condition. The last is an original Lionel prewar No. 717 "O" Scale NYC prewar die-cast Caboose. Overall in good condition. Trucks are original to the piece. Wheels and axles also look fine. No warp to the bottom frame. Some oxidation showing on sides and roof.

Again, please take a look at all the photographs, and please ask any questions - I will try to help you out to the best of my ability. Keep in mind that this set is being offered with NO RESERVE. However, if people are away and there is no reasonable bidding on the set, I will pull it 12 hours prior to the auction. So if interested, please bid early.
