J & E Stevens Cast Iron Speaking Dog Mechanical Bank NRHere is a great early cast iron mechanical bank from J. & E. Steven's designed by Charles Shepard in the late 1800s. It is called the "Speaking Dog" mechanical bank. The coin is placed on a plate held by the girl. When you press the lever the girl drops the coin into the bench as the dog barks and wags his tail. Condition on this piece is excellent, as seen in the pictures. I see no breaks or cracks. Original paint is very nice, especially on the girls face and the dog. All original.
