Lionel Late Prewar Set w/ 229, 02689W + 2655 2659 2654 +

Here is a very nice set of Lionel prewar "O" gauge trains from 1941. This set includes the No. 229 2-4-2 Steam Locomotive with the No. 02689W Whistle Tender. Also, it includes the following freights - the hard to find No. 2659 green Dump Car - the No. 2654 "Shell" Tank Car - the No. 2655 Box Car with tuscan roof, the red No. 2657 Caboose with tuscan roof. All the cars are matched with the simulated knuckle Box Couplers and the blackened Journals. Condition notes: The engine is the unusual version that has the stamped number "229" on the sides. It was put on a test track and it hums but did not run. Wheels turn freely so it must be a minor issue. Missing one front light jewel. The Tender has nice clean graphics. It looks as if it will need some rewiring. Because of that, the whistle did not presently work. The Shell Tank Car has a few loose stanchions. The others cars are nice with just some minor scratches.
