Lionel Set # 291W w/ 226E 2226W & 2954 2955 2957 Freights

Here is a wonderful Lionel prewar semi-scale set you won't see very often - Lionel Set No. 291W from 1940-41. This features one of my favorite Lionel Steam Locomotives - the Lionel "O" Gauge 2-6-4 No. 226E steam locomotive, with its matching No. 2226W Whistle Tender. It pulls (3) semi-scale freights, the No. 2954 PRR Boxcar, the No. 2955 Shell Tank Car, and the No. 2957 Caboose. This set includes all the individual boxes, and most importantly, it includes the rarely seen No. 291W SET BOX. PLEASE click the link above to see ALL the pictures before bidding. What a great set. Overall, you will be surprised at the wonderful condition of this set - as seen in all the many pictures below. The engine is excellent. I can't find anything wrong with it. When tested on a test track it lights up and runs in forward and reverse. The 2226W Tender is similarly graded with just some minor wear on the high areas. The 226E engine Box - which is hard to find in any condition - does have one flap that has been reproduced and attached. Does have both inserts. Some flaps reinforced with tape. The 2226W Box is really nice for this hard to find box. All flaps present. Interior lining. The freight cars are in wonderful overall condition. The cars themselves I would have to grade close to like new. They really are clean. All castings are nice and straight. I only see a small wave in the roof of the Boxcar which is very slight. The boxes have all their flaps and interior linings. A couple of the boxes have been reinforced with tape on the flaps. The rare set box has been repaired. All the top flaps have been reattached with glue. Great original label. Nice and sturdy. This is a nice set, and one that you will be proud to own. A true collectible. Buy with confidence. Thanks.
