Scarce Lionel Early Postwar # 463W 1945 Freight Set 224 2457 ++SET BOX

This is the rare No. 463W "O" Gauge Freight Set that Lionel made in 1945, the very first post-war set. This includes the No. 224 Diecast Steam Engine, the No. 2466W Whistle Tender, the No. 2452 Pennsylvania Gondola, the No. 2458 Pennsylvania Double Door Automobile Box Car, the No. 2755 Sunoco Tank Car, and the No. 2457 Pennsylvania Illuminated Caboose. Also, it includes all the individual boxes, a No. 167 Whistle Controller, an RCS, and a rare 1945 Booklet called "Lionel Trains in Action". This also has  the rare SET BOX.

In 1945 the engine had the blackened handrails, square cab floor and long drawbar. All freights had the Flying Shoe Couplers. Overall, this set is in excellent condition - as viewed in the many pictures below. The engine has some wear on the front cow catcher, but overall this is a real nice looking engine. It runs well in forward and reverse, but will need a cleaning to run perfectly. The tender is also in great condition for this early piece. Whistle made some noise but did not whistle cleanly. The freights are all in excellent condition. The Boxcar has some scratches on the roof. The Tank has a chipped decal on one side. Some small scratches as seen in the pictures, but overall these are nice, clean freight cars. I do see a couple small places with oxidation underneath the trucks. Couplers are in a complete unbroken state. The RCS has brittle wires. The Engine Box is missing flaps on one end. It does have its original Insert. The 2466W Box does not have an insert but all flaps. The other boxes are also in very good to excellent condition as seen in the photos below. The Gondola box is the weakest of the group, missing a tuck flaps and with tape residue. None have inserts, if they were supposed to. The SET BOX has some staining but is still nice and firm. A good label for this set. Overall, a scarce set not to be missed for your collections. Buy with confidence. Thanks.
