Scarce IVES EXCELSIOR SERIES Cast Iron Sand Toy - Original Wooden BoxHere is a cast iron toy you will rarely if ever seen. Probably 10 or fewer known to exist. This is a IVES EXCELSIOR SERIES, cast iron Sand Toy in its original wooden box with lid. Circa. 1885. It is very graphic with beautiful original paint - and it works well. You put the toy into its box and pour the sand through the top as the wheel with buckets turns around. The box is unbelievable that it has survived in such nice condition all these years. Still has its original slide in top. The toy when standing is approx. measures 12" tall. No breaks or cracks.
