Large Lionel No. 2297WS N&W Freight Set/OBs

Here is a large and wonderful Lionel postwar "Super O" gauge Freight Set cataloged in 1957 - the most expensive and sought after set Lionel sold in the 1950s. This set includes the No. 746 Norfolk & Western Streamline Steam Engine with its matching No. 746W N&W short-stripe whistle tender, the No. 345 Culvert Unloading Accessory with the No. 6362 NYC Culvert Gondola, the No. 264 Operating Forklift Set with the No. 6264 Lumber Car, the No. 3362 Operating Milk Car Set with stand, the No. 3356 Operating Horse Car Set and corral, the No. 6517 Illuminated Bay Window Caboose. includes all individual Boxes, the rare LARGE Set Box, Envelopes and some Paperwork. All that is pictured.

Overall the set is in excellent condition. Some of the trains are close to like new. The engine and tender look very nice, as you can see in the pictures. The engine just has a couple of small scratches. The Tender has a couple small spots of oxidation underneath. Runs and smokes fine. Whistle tender works well. Engine box is missing a couple of interior flaps and has some tape on it as pictured. Comes with Lionel paper that has a couple of small tears. Tender box is complete. The freight cars all look great as pictured below. The Horse car is missing its little box for the horses. Its set box is very nice for this car. The Fork lift car Box has its original insert. Some spots of oxidation on the deck of the platform. The 345 Unloader looks nice. The Caboose is like new, however the box does show wear, with some tape reinforcements on the flaps. Comes with the rare and very large set box that measures 25" x 16" x 10". The set box is clean and solid but does have some repair work on one corner. It is complete and intact. I show all the sides of the box in the pictures below. A wonderful set that will be the centerpiece of most collections. Don't miss this one, and please ask any questions. Thanks.
