Original Lionel Hiawatha Set 250E Engine 250W Tender 782 783 784 OB (DAKOTApaul)

Here is a great set of trains - This is the original Lionel Hiawatha from the late 1930s. It consists of the 250E locomotive with its 250W tender. It has all the cars - the 782, the 783 and the 784 observation and both vestibules. Comes with its original Boxes. Condition is very good for this early set - as seen in the pictures below (please click the link above to view ALL the pictures before bidding). The engine has some paint missing on the sides and roof, but overall the paint is nicer than most. Has one broken front red headlight, and a little chip on front headlight dome. Missing dome lens. Back truck has a repalced journal. When put on a test track the engine did run in forward and reverse, however, the e-unit is a little loose, and took effort to get it to change directions. The tender also looks very good. Nice clean wheels and trucks. It did make some noise when tested, but no pure whistle sound. The passenger cars have nice strong graphics. No warps or bends to the belly pans. What is extra nice is that the first car has its original front vestibule, which is usually replaced. Overall, cars have some scratches. Vestibules are missing their light bulbs. The boxes are for the most part tattered. The Engine Box has been glued up a seam. The Tender Box is missing flaps and is in poor condition. The Passenger car boxes also have issues as pictured - but they are included!Overall, a real nice set. Don't miss your chance to own one of Lionel's rarest sets - and please ask any questions.
