Amazing Lionel #707W 700E Hudson Freight Set 714 715 716 717

Here is the granddaddy of them all - a Lionel prewar "O Gauge" full-scale 700E with a 700T tender pulling (4) scale freights - the 714 Box Car, the 715 Shell Tank Car, the 716 B & O Hopper, and a 717 Caboose. This is a chance to own a wonderful Lionel prewar "O" gauge set. The condition of this great set is mostly apparent from the photographs - so make sure you view them all - but I will detail what I know about each piece.

First and foremost - the ultimate Lionel prewar "O" gauge Steam Engine. Mention the New York Central Railroad's "Hudson" locomotive 5344, and most collectors think of this train. Here is the 1937 version of the Lionel No. 700E Locomotive with its 700W Tender. The first year this was issued. Serial Number 011207. Black zinc ally die-cast superstructure, nickel plates, rubber stamped "5344" below the windows and on the headlight. 14-1/8". Stamped NEW YORK CENTRAL on the tender. Condition on this engine and tender is extremely nice, and one of the better 37s I've seen in awhile. When tested the engine ran well in forward and reverse. Shell is super clean with strong graphics, and little wear. Frame appears nice and straight, with cow catcher approx. 3/16" above flat surface. Does not touch third rail when on the tracks. Possibly a little expansion like all these early Hudsons, but very little if any. Has a replacement drawbar pin in back. Tender is wonderful. Missing third rail pick-up. WOW, what strong castings and graphics. A great looking 100% original tender. This is a nice original engine and tender set.

The freights also look great - included is a Lionel No. 714 Scale Pennsylvania Die-Cast Boxcar. The body is in excellent condition. No breaks or cracks. All original. Some minor spots on the roof, and a couple dings to the paint. The Lionel No. 715 Scale SHELL Die-Cast Tank car. This is in very good condition, decals showing some minor wear. No breaks or cracks. I don't see any warps to the frame. Black rail around the car has been touched up. Also included is the Lionel No. 716 Scale B & O Die-Cast Hopper car. Very good condition - as seen in the pictures. Some minor wear to the paint. Graphics strong. All bottom door hinges and latches in good order. The last is an original Lionel prewar No. 717 "O" Scale NYC prewar die-cast Caboose. Excellent overall condition. Probably the nicest of the group. No warp to the bottom frame.  Again, please take a look at all the photographs, and please ask any questions - I will try to help you out to the best of my ability. Buy with confidence. A great set. Thanks.
