Lionel # 264E Red Comet Commodore Vanderbilt Set 603 603 604Here is a very nice prewar Lionel "O" gauge Set - The Red Comet - this is Set 291W from 1936. It features the No. 264E Commodore Vanderbilt "Red Comet" Locomotive with its No. 265W red Whistle Tender. Included are the following passenger cars - the No. 603 Pullman, another 603 Pullman, and the No. 604 Observation. Also comes with its original Red Transformer. Condition is detailed in the many pictures below. The Engine back cab is a replacement. The engine has a some wear but overall bright shinny original red paint. The engine runs in forward and reverse. The tender whistles when tested but makes a racket. Has wear on sides, and some tape around the coupler, which I assume means it is loose. The cars have nice original paint and graphics on the sides. Some scratches mostly on the roofs. Trucks, wheels and couplers mostly clean with minor oxidation. Transformer looks good, but has not been tested. Overall a real nice set - not to be missed. Thanks. Price: $285 SORRY! SOLD!
