Lionel Standard Gauge 385E Loco 385W + 513 515 512 517ere is a great original set of prewar Lionel Standard Gauge Trains. This is the Freight Set set from the middle 1930s which features the No. 385E Steam Locomotive with its No. 385W whistle tender in gun-metal grey. This set includes (4) original freight cars - the No. 513 Cattle Car, the No. 512 Gondola, and the No. 515 Sunoco Tank Car, and the No. 517 Caboose. This set is in very good overall condition - and I think the pictures tell the story. The engine runs, but will need some cleaning and fine tuning to run perfectly. When tested, the tender did not whistle. The engine's steam chest is starting to show small cracks, therefore, I've provided a painted replacement in case you wanted to restore that area (see pictures). The finish appears to be original, and very nice. I do see some red highlights that were added in places. The front boiler plate is showing some age, and it looks as if someone painted it to keep it from getting worse. The tender is not warped, and is in very good plus condition. The 513 Cattle car overall is very good plus. The Sunoco Tank Car is missing a couple of stanchions and one journal. The 512 gondola has one plate that lost its number. Also, it has some oxidation on the interior bed. The Caboose has some scratches as shown in the pictures. Don't miss this rare and great looking set for your standard gauge layouts.
