Lionel Gun Metal Gray Standard Gauge 400E Locomotive Engine & Tender DAKOTApaul

Here is one of Lionel's biggest and best engines in a great gun-metal gray color. This is the No. 400E 4-4-4 Standard Gauge Steam Engine with its matching Tender, all with nickel trim. This is a large and impressive piece. Made between 1927-36. This is the later version. This engine and tender have some issues which I will detail. However, overall all there is a lot to like about this engine, including very nice paint on the boiler. The Engine has a broken and repaired steam chest. You can see the cracks underneath.  The boiler front is a original but does have some age cracks in the front headlight lens. Both of the air chambers are cracked with one being repaired at the tabs to the frame. One of the top rods that goes into the steam chest is broken. Drive wheels are replacements and need some adjustment. The Engine does hum and moves slowly in forward and reverse, but I believe the wheels are holding up its movement. The Tender is a nice one. Some minor wear to the paint. amd missing its front drawbar. When tested the whistle worked but made a racket, not the true whistle sound. Will be a nice engine with a little TLC. Offering this AS IS - so please check out the pictures and ask any questions. Thanks.
