Rare 1937 Lionel Prewar 700E 4-6-4 Scale Hudson w/ 700W Tender

In my opinion, here is the ultimate Lionel prewar "O" gauge Steam Engine. Mention the New York Central Railroad's "Hudson" locomotive 5344, and most collectors think of this train. Here is the 1937 version of the Lionel No. 700E Locomotive with its 700W Tender. The first year this was issued. Serial Number 010193. The 193rd 700E Lionel made. Black zinc ally die-cast superstructure, nickel plates, rubber stamped "5344" below the windows and on the headlight. 14-1/8". Rubber stamped NEW YORK CENTRAL on the tender.

Condition on this train is very good - as seen in all the pictures. Shell is clean with nice graphics, and little wear.  Typical of these 1937 700Es, it has some warpage. Frame appears mostly straight, and clears the 3rd rail enough to run. The cow catcher rides approx. 1/16" above. When tested the train did run in forward and reverse, however, the e-unit was sticking during some of the cycles. Original drawbar pin in back. Tender is also very nice, and all original with the correct stamped lettering. Some age wear, with a slight warp to the shell as seen from the underneath photograph. When tested the tender did work. This is a nice original train, surely to be the focus of any collection. Don't miss this rare and unique set. Thanks.
