Kyser & Rex Cast Iron Lion & Monkeys Mechanical Bank Double Peanut

Here is a great early cast iron mechanical bank from Kyser and Rex patented 7/17/1883. It is called the "Lion & Monkeys" mechanical bank. This is the version known as the “double peanut” by collectors because of the shape of the knot in the tree. It is approximately 1/2” higher than its relative, the “single peanut” tree. Size is 9-1/2" high and 9" in length. The coin is placed in the monkey's hand - by moving the handle at the base it causes the monkey to throw the coin into the Lions open mouth. Action works fine. Condition on this piece is excellent, as seen in the pictures below. No breaks or cracks. Original trap (missing key), and monkeys are original. Appears one eye in the Lion has been replaced, as it is a different color. The base is also really nice - all original with no touch-ups. Don't miss this opportunity to own one of these nice rare banks.
