Lionel Early Postwar Freight Set # 1409W 1666 2466WX w/3454 Flying Shoe CouplerHere is a neat set of early postwar Lionel Trains - from 1946. This is Freight Set No. 1409W. It includes the 2-6-2 No. 1666 steam locomotive with its matching No. 2466WX tender. These are pulling a No. 2465 silver Sunoco two dome tank car, a No. 3454 operating merchandise car, the No. 3559 dump car with rainbow 160 bin and a No. 2472 caboose The set includes all the individual boxes, the No. 1019 track controller set, 1946 Instruction booklet, and the Set Box. All that is pictured below. What a great looking set. And in nice original condition. This is the set where the Engine has the blackened handrail, tender with "flying shoe" couplers and the Freight Cars that also have "flying shoe" type couplers. The wheels are thick axle with deep dish wheels. The engine and tender are in nice condition. The Engine is clean, and when put on a track it hums, but did not run. Wheels turn freely. A good cleaning is necessary. The Tender has some age marks on the plastic shell, but trucks and couplers are intact and in very good condition. When tested the whistle worked fine. The boxes look nice and both have their original inserts. But like all the boxes in this set, they have some water stain marks. The 2465 Tank car is beautiful. Hardly any wear. Nice crossed out box. The 3454 Merchandising car is also very nice. Box shows wear and staining, and is missing one interior flap. Does have its insert, instruction sheet, rainbow bin, and original crates. Also a nice 3559 Dump Car. Comes with its original liner, rainbow bin, bag of coal and instruction sheet. The Set Box has some wear and staining as pictured with a nice complete label. Great looking set not to be missed. Enjoy all the pictures. Thanks. Price: $429 SORRY! SOLD!
